Besides being a former camp director, Nick is also a social worker with a doctorate in social policy, for which he studied youth populations.

​

Nick believes that for the best possible outcomes, staff training should not be limited to just one orientation session, but that it should include ongoing coaching opportunities throughout the summer and the year. 

Staff Training Options (camps can choose some or all of these):

  • Remotely with leadership teams during the off-season

  • In-person during staff orientation (location-dependent)

  • Continued coaching with staff throughout the summer in-person & remotely

Staff training and ongoing summer coaching focuses on:

  • How staff can pace themselves to make it through the summer and love the job!

  • Mental wellness in staff and campers - how to feel good at camp and get the job done

  • Teaching staff how to deal with difficult situations that might arise with campers

  • Getting staff to ask for, and get, the help they need so that they can be present at camp

  • All training is interactive and gives staff takeaways that will help them through the summer
